Founded in 1896, the City of Superior is yet another in a string of thriving cities in Boulder County.

Over twenty years ago there were about 250 residents who called this city home, now Superior Real Estate supports most of its 12,000 residents.

Superior was named after the quality of coal which was found in the area when prospectors came to mine the land, hence the name “superior.”

This prospering town is located directly south of the City of Louisville, across from Highway 36 and is approximately 6 miles from Boulder.

The town’s largest residential housing development is Rock Creek Ranch, and plans are in the works to expand this flourishing community.

Along with residential development, there are also plans for commercial and retail expansion set to compliment the expected growth in the future.

Superior homes have seen a dramatic increase in value over the last decade just as its Boulder County neighbors have which include: Louisville Real Estate, Lafayette Real Estate, Longmont Real Estate, and Niwot Real Estate.

The estimated median house/condo value of Superior Real Estate in 2000 was just over $280,000, today the same median sales price for Superior homes is $401,900 (www.city-data.com).

Although Superior is located in Boulder and Jefferson Counties most of all the work regarding the up-keep of the parks, the recreation, and activities are contracted to Boulder County.

Most importantly, the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) operates all of the schools in this municipality.
